Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 is definitely close to launch. First the device was spotted at FCC and not long after that at China’s Certification Center (Chinese equivalent of FCC). Then a few days ago Galaxy Mega’s alleged specifications leaked and revealed the internals of the Samsung’s budget-friendly phablet. We have some new information coming from Asia
It appears that the unannounced Galaxy Mega 2 is up for sale in Malaysia by SenHeng, an authorized retailer. This listing more or less confirms previously leaked specifications. According to the listing, Galaxy Mega 2 will sport a 1.5GHz quad-core processor and will have a 6-inch 720p (1280 x 720) TFT display along with 1.5GB of RAM. The listing also confirms 8GB of internal storage (expandable via MicroSD card) and an 8-megapixel rear-facing shooter. SenHeng says the device is available in black and white colors and Android 4.4 KitKat comes pre-installed. The device is priced at RM1,299, which is about $411.
So, we probably know what we’re getting here. SenHeng doesn’t mention processor’s brand though, but we’re guessing it will sport Samsung’s very own Exynos chip. The device itself on the other hand looks… well, like a Samsung device. Based on the image provided by the retailer it will have that Note 3-like faux leather stitching on the back and all around incredibly resembles the Note 3 and the Galaxy S5, the latter has a different back cover though. This listing is yet another great sign that Samsung will unveil its Galaxy Mega 2 phablet soon, maybe even on September 3rd when Samsung is holding its “Unpacked” event in Berlin, Beijing and New York simultaneously. Is anyone interested in this thing? I have to say that I’m once again unaffected by a Mega device. The first one didn’t exactly interest me in a special way and if all these leaked information are true, this one won’t either. On the other hand I’m not the one they’re aiming at, I’m sure there are plenty of people who will find this device suitable for their needs despite the price tag SenHeng listed. There are already lots of better specced devices out there for significantly lower price than the one listed, but as I said, I’m sure this device will find its buyers.
