Catherine Zeta-Jones, Douglas to sell Bedford estate

Here’s your chance to live like Hollywood royalty, right in the rolling hills of one of Westchester County’s most sought-after communities, where the neighbors include Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Martha Stewart and Chevy Chase. There’s just one catch: You’ll need $8.1 million.

That’s how much Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones are asking for their Guard Hill Road estate in Bedford. The couple bought the property in October 2010 .

Douglas and Zeta-Jones, who did major renovations on the house about a year ago, are not necessarily exiting Westchester.

“Many movie stars remake houses to their own style and then wonder what else is out there,” said Sally Siano, the broker owner of Siano Company in Bedford Hills. Her son Craig Siano is the listing agent for the house.

“I don’t know specifically why they are moving – just happy they called us. And they are looking at other properties in the area,” she confirmed, declining to add further details.

Siano doesn’t think selling this house will be too difficult.

“It is an exceptional property in one of the most desirable areas of Westchester, of Bedford,” added Siano.

Frank Haymson of Douglas Elliman in Bedford who sold movie and television star Ron Howard’s house in Armonk for a record $27.5 million asking price in an all-cash deal, said it is a “very nice property.”

“It is one of the nicest homes in Guard Hill backing up to Sunnyfield Farm (a horse farm) and is one of the first houses that sold for more than $1 million on 4 acres or less in the area,” he said.

It is apparently where Zeta-Jones spent her time during the couple’s recent separation.

Now that the acting duo has reportedly reconciled, they listed the 6,600-square-foot home as of Aug. 11. Annual property taxes are $73,600, according to town records.

The couple bought the 6-bedroom colonial-style house built in the 1930s for $5.075 million, but the listing notes there were major renovations done in 2013 – the same year the couple informally separated but did not file court papers.

It has a “glorious master closet suite, gym and sauna,” and a gourmet kitchen. A new guesthouse includes a bedroom, bath, kitchen and living room.

Then there’s the closet space, including one described as a “master closet suite.” Photos show a long row of white blouses neatly hung with colored items across the room in another section.

And for shoe lovers, there are two walls of floor-to-ceiling shelves with natural light coming from French doors.

Never mind about power failures, since the estate has a generator at the ready.

The couple has two children, a son, Dylan, 13, and daughter Carys, 11.

The couple also has an apartment on the Upper West Side and homes elsewhere.

The listing agent is Craig Siano of Siano Company.
