The property at 138 Narragansett Ave., owned by the Holy Ghost Society since 1928, is up for sale.
According to agent Joan Mc- Cauley of Island Realty, the building and land was listed on July 14. Popularly known as the Portuguese American Citizens Club, the social hall has been a staple in Jamestown for more than half a century.
The restaurant has had turnover in recent years. The Holy Ghost Society, while still retaining ownership, began leasing the building about four years ago. After two unsuccessful stints by non-affiliated proprietors, the society took back control late last year. Under the management of Holy Ghost Society President Joan Dupee, the Jamestown Bar Grille opened in December and is still operating.
The property is being offered for the first time since the society built the hall 86 years ago. The listing price is $1.2 million. The building is nearly 10,000 square feet with the capacity to hold more than 160 people. There are also more than 90 parking spaces, according to Island Realty.
Dupee did not return a phone call and message left on Monday afternoon.
