LOGAN SQUARE — One of Logan Square’s longest-running late-night bars has been put up for sale, according to real estate consultants at Kudan Group.
Two Way Lounge, at 2412 N. Milwaukee Ave., was listed for sale July 17, but even if it’s sold, it could remain unchanged, Kudan Group realtor Jarrett Fradin.
“One of the best-case scenarios is that someone buys it and keeps it exactly the same. It’s a unique little space,” Fradin said.
Fradin and a manager for Two Way Lounge said the bar is not closing, for now.
The business has been passed down through two generations and has amassed several licenses in that time, according to Fradin. The bar currently has another five years on its lease, but business hours will continue as usual for now.
Still, the longstanding bar could eventually change hands as owner Glenn Miller retires.
“Someone could also be looking to do another operation,” Fradin said. “Obviously there’s a lot of people looking at the area now.”
A manager at the bar said that the Two Way owner is simply weighing his options.
“At one time he wanted to sell, and he’s trying to see if it’s good for him to stay in business,” he said.
“But we’re not closing,” he added.
Formerly Helen’s Two-Way Lounge, the 1,280-square-foot bar sits at the corner of Milwaukee and Fullerton and is named for the doors facing each street. It rents for $4,466.98 per month, according to Kudon Group.
On its Facebook page, it bills itself as “a dive bar in Logan Square, Chicago known for its economic drink prices.” One online post agreed, saying, “I recommend this place because it has a friendly environment. Also it’s probably the only place in Logan Square where you can get drunk for a reasonable price.”
