DETROIT (AP) — An aggressive program by Detroit to find owners for vacant houses continues with an open house in the historic Boston-Edison neighborhood.

About a dozen houses in the area are listed on the Detroit Land Bank Authority’s online auction site. Prospective buyers can view the houses from 1-5 p.m. Saturday.

Financing and rehabilitation loans are available for eligible buyers through Liberty Bank to help residents purchase and fix up blighted properties.

The Boston-Edison Association says most homes in the neighborhood were built between 1905 and 1925.

The auction is part of Detroit’s efforts to eradicate blight and stabilize neighborhoods. At least 50 houses have been sold in several Detroit neighborhoods since early May. Two homes per day now are being auctioned on the website.
