Series events will get you grooving

Music is everywhere you turn this weekend in the Lowcountry.

From Sol Slam on the Isle of Palms to club shows to the events listed below, if you’re a music fan, you’ll likely be overwhelmed with options.

Third Thursday

Summerville, also known as the Flowertown in the Pines, will again be showing off all the “quaint little town” has to offer during its July Third Thursday event.

From 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Summerville invites folks to come out to rest and relax. Stroll through the boutiques in the historic downtown area, treat yourself to dinner at one of the restaurants and enjoy the live entertainment.

A variety of music will be performed in various locations throughout the area. The Charleston Hot Shots will be in front of People, Places Quilts; The Ambler Hall Band will be behind Guerin’s Pharmacy; W.M. Freund will be on Short Central; and Alan Bibey Susan Riddle will be inside Single Smile Cafe.

Third Thursday takes place rain or shine. For more information, go to www.summervilledream.org.

Thursday Night Boogie

While the Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission’s Shaggin’ on the Cooper series has been a long-standing event, the folks over at the Mount Pleasant Pier still know how to shake things up.

Introduced in June, the second event in the Thursday Night Boogie summer dance series will take place Thursday.

A counterpart to the Shaggin’ on the Cooper series, which is open to all ages, Thursday Night Boogie is intended for ages 21 and up and will be held the Thursday prior to each Shaggin’ event.

Starting at 6 p.m., DJ Jim Bowers will be spinning a variety of oldies, beach music classics and line-dancing hits. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

Admission is $10, with Charleston County residents able to purchase advance tickets for $8. All attendees must be at least 21 years of age to gain entry and a photo ID is required.

An annual summer staple put on by CCPRC, Shaggin’ on the Cooper is back in action Saturday.

The dance series at the Mount Pleasant Pier off Harry Hallman Jr. Boulevard runs 7-11 p.m.

The event will feature live music by The Sneakers. Food and beverages will be available on-site for purchase.

Tickets are $10 or $8 for Charleston County residents, and it’s recommended that advance purchases are made as tickets are limited.

Attendees will be able to enjoy live music by Hot Sauce, a high-energy band that performs dance, rock, funk and Top 40 tunes.

Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Attendees are encouraged to bring a beach chair or blanket.

Freshfields Village is at the crossroads of Kiawah, Seabrook and Johns islands. For more information, go to www.FreshfieldsVillage.com.
