The most expensive home on the market in Hawaii, a beachfront mansion in Kahala listed by Realtor Patricia Choi for $28 million, is one two Hawaii houses that made Ocean Home magazine’s Top 20 beach homes in America list this month.

The other home on the list is a house in Kapalua on Maui, listed for $26 million by Damien Zanolini of Coldwell Banker Island Properties and the most expensive beachfront listing on Maui. Click on the photo for a slideshow of both properties.

The Kahala Avenue house is 18,388 square feet and has nine bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, a swimming pool, two wading pools and a 3,000-bottle wine cellar.

The lot that the Kahala Avenue home sits on is one of 13 beachfront homes on Kahala Avenue, said Choi, president and CEO of Choi International Realty.

The lot is at a slightly higher elevation than surrounding ones, which gives a better view of the ocean and Koko Head, Choi said. Potential buyers also have total privacy.

“They want their compound and this home is truly a compound,” Choi said.

The Maui home has four suites and five full bathrooms and is one of four beachfront homes in a gated neighborhood on Oneloa Bay in Kapalua. It was listed in May.

The interior spans 7,475 square feet. In all, the total living space is about 10,000 square feet, Zanolini said.

“It is just about 25 feet above the ocean, so it creates this amazing feeling that you are on the water,” he said.
