The likelihood of a PS4 port of Beyond: Two Souls seemingly increased with the news that two Swiss websites have listed the game for pre-order.
A PS4 version of Beyond, with placeholder box art, was spotted on Swiss site Alcom.ch yesterday. Later, a similar listing was found on World of Games, another Swiss online retailer.
Other than their country of origin, the two sites are unrelated and do not share the same database, meaning these are considered to be two separate listings. The text in the product information does not make any reference to an enhanced port or PS4 version.
This is not the first time a PS4 port of Beyond has been rumoured. Back in April, a NeoGAF member spotted an image relating to a possible port in the portfolio of a Quantic Dreams programmer.
The image showed a control layout for Beyond, using an illustration of the DualShock 4 as a reference. It was then removed a day after it was posted on NeoGAF.
Quantic Dreams is known to be working on a PS4 title. However, studio founder David Cage stressed in September 2013 that its project is something “very different” from Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls.
In CVG’s Beyond: Two Souls review, we said the game has “impressive facial animation” and features a “solid performance by Ellen Page”, but that it’s let down by “clumsy, unnatural dialogue” and a lack of a “sense that you’re having any impact on the story”.
