Here’s a list of Independence Day happenings in communities across Western Pennsylvania. Events are Friday, unless otherwise noted.

Avella: Meadowcroft Rockshelter and Historic Village, 401 Meadowcroft Road. Old-fashioned summer games, open-hearth cooking demonstrations and a pie-eating contest. Noon to 5 p.m.

Beaver County: Fireworks at the confluence of the Ohio and Beaver rivers, 9:45 p.m. June 28. Visible from points in Rochester, Monaca, Bridgewater and Beaver. pushbeavercounty.org.

Ben Avon: Reading of the Declaration of Independence by Ben Avon council President Earl Bohn, 8 a.m. at borough building. Introduction by author and theologian Michael Novak.

Bethel Park: Carnival food available for purchase, activities for children and live music, from 6 p.m. until fireworks at Christ United Methodist Church, 44 Highland Road.

Brentwood: 6 to 9:30 p.m. July 3, Street Fair, Brownsville Road from library to Presbyterian church; 9 a.m. July 4, Firecracker 5K race, begins at Brentwood Towne Square on Brownsville Road; 10 a.m. July 4, Fly-over and parade on Brownsville Road; 9:40 p.m. July 4, fireworks (rain date July 5).

Butler: Fireworks, dusk at Big Butler Fair, 1127 New Castle Road, Prospect.

Canonsburg: 52nd annual celebration starts at 7:45 a.m. with Whiskey Rebellion 5K Race Walkers. Parade at 10 a.m. Fireworks at 9:30 p.m., Canon-McMillan Stadium. Free town activities include music and Family Swim Party.

Carnegie: Carnegie Park opens at 3 p.m. July 3. Fireworks at dusk on July 3.

Crafton: Crafton Celebrates 6 to 10:30 p.m. June 30 to July 3; 3 to 11 p.m. July 4, in Crafton Park. Kickoff parade is 6:30 p.m. June 30. Thomas J. Witt Memorial 5K race is 8 a.m. July 4, with fireworks at dusk. craftoncelebrates.com.

Dormont: Dormont Day begins at 10:30 a.m. in park. Fireworks, 9:30 p.m. in Dormont Pool parking lot.

Edgeworth: Bike parade, 10 a.m., Edgeworth Elementary School’s parking lot on Meadow Lane. Children can begin lining up at 9:45 a.m.

Ford City: Summerfest, opening ceremonies, 5 p.m. July 3, 800 block of Fourth Avenue. Fireworks by Glory on High, 10 p.m. July 6. All events listed on Facebook.

Green Tree: Events noon to 3 p.m. at Wilson Park Pool. Flag-raising ceremony led by American Legion Post 823 at noon. Pool open and free until 5 p.m.

Hampton: Events at community center begin at 2 p.m. July 3. Fireworks at 9:30 p.m. July 3. Firecracker 5K at 9 a.m. July 4 at Hampton Community Park.

Hookstown: Civilian Conservation Corps camp tour, 10 to 11:30 a.m., Raccoon Creek State Park, park office along Route 18. Indoor presentation, followed by a short walking tour. Free.

Leetsdale: Parade at 2 p.m. from Quaker Village Shopping Center parking lot, along Beaver Street to Broad Street and ends in Henle Park near Ferry Street. Fireworks at dusk. Carnival in Henle Park from 6 to 10 p.m. July 1, 2 and 3, and 1 to 10 p.m. July 4 and 5. Benefits Fourth of July celebration.

Midland: 10 a.m. parade, carnival all day at Lincoln Park, fireworks at 10 p.m. Carnival also runs 4 to 10 p.m. July 3 and 5; car cruise at 6 p.m. July 3.

Moon: Celebration from 4 to 10 p.m., Moon Park, Ewing Road. Car show, music, military recognition at 9:50 p.m., fireworks by Zambelli at 10 p.m.

Mt. Lebanon: Games, food and activities in Main Park from noon to 5 p.m., concert at 7:30 p.m. and fireworks at 9:30 p.m. Swim center will close at 7 p.m.; recreation center parking lot reserved for people with handicap parking permits.

Pittsburgh: Music and entertainment begin at 1 p.m. in Point State Park, Downtown. Fireworks at 9:35 p.m.

Fourth at the Fort: 11 a.m. raising of 13-star, 36-foot American flag, Fort Pitt Museum, Point State Park. Evening begins with firing of 18th century cannon.

Carnegie Science Center: Fireworks blowout from 6 to 11 p.m.

Robinson: Pyrotecnico fireworks begin at dusk, Burkett Sports and Recreation Complex, 23 McCormick Road.

Ross: Crafts, games and live music at Ross Township Community Center starting at 5 p.m. July 6. Parade stages at 3 p.m. at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, and refreshments following parade at Perrysville Volunteer Fire Company, both on Perry Highway. Fireworks at 9:30 p.m. can be viewed from park near municipal center.

Scott: Community Day begins with American Legion flag services at Scott Park; pool open at 11 a.m. Fireworks at 9:31 p.m.

Shaler: Community Day begins at 1 p.m., Kiwanis Park. Bands begin playing at 7 p.m. Fireworks by Pyrotecnico at dusk. (Rain date July 5.)

South Fayette: Fireworks at 9:45 p.m. July 3 at El Rancho Park.

Tarentum: 6 p.m. July 3, bands, food, face painting, Dreshar Stadium, First Avenue at Bridge Street, Fireworks at 10 p.m.

Whitehall: 6 p.m. June 27, Shoppes at Caste Village, 5301 Grove Road. Face painting, a tattoo artist, caricature artist, kettle corn, shaved ice and entertainment. Fireworks from Pyrotecnico at 9:45 p.m.

Zelienople: Pittsburgh Philharmonic concert at 8:15 p.m., fireworks at 9:45, in Community Park, Beaver Street.
