RALPH BECKETT drops last year’s Oaks runner-up Secret Gesture down into Listed company at Nottingham this evening, in an attempt to get the four-year-old filly a confidence boosting win.
A short-priced favourite for the Voute Sales Warwickshire Oaks (7.50), Secret Gesture was also third in the Yorkshire Oaks last season, and she ran another good race at York last month when runner-up in the Middleton Stakes.
Beckett said: “She gets into this race without a penalty which is obviously an advantage. For the last twelve months every race she has been in has been a war, taking on Group 1 horses and the idea of running here was to find something a little less demanding for her in the hope that she can win, and win well, and boost her confidence in the process.”
As well as Nottingham there is Flat racing from Carlisle and Windsor, plus a jumps card at Newton Abbot.
Today’s key pointer
In the last five seasons Jeremy Noseda is 10/24 (42 per cent) with three-year-olds in three-year-old plus races at Windsor (+£19.29 to £1 stakes. Wakea runs in the maiden at 8.35.
