Wollongong’s Chifley Hotel listed for sale

The 4½-star hotel is being sold through global real estate firm Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels.

The top-class Chifley Hotel Wollongong is on the market.

The 4½-star hotel is being sold through global real estate firm Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels.

The sale is open to expressions of interest only but it is believed that a property such as the Chifley is likely to sell for more than $25 million.

The hotel, which opened in 2010, is located across the road from WIN Stadium, and includes 168 guest rooms.

New owners’ plans for Novotel Northbeach

It also features a restaurant, bar, business centre, gymnasium and swimming pool as well as a range of conference and meeting facilities.

The Chifley is owned by a Brisbane-based company and managed international group SilverNeedle Hospitality.

Jones Lang LaSalle agent Mark Durran said the sale was a sign of the recent activity in this end of the property market.

“The sale really comes on the back of the highly successful results in our recent sale of the Novotel at Wollongong and then most recently the Quality Suites [at Towradgi] as well,” Mr Durran said. “They transacted at strong levels of price and strong levels of interest by investors for the Wollongong area.”

Similar to houses in a suburb, if one sells for more than expected, other owners can be prompted to sell as well.
