Fire crews battle to save A-listed Glasgow School of Art

Fire crews believe up to 70% of the contents at the world famous institution have been saved after working with the school staff to identify key artworks to salvage from the flames.

The blaze broke out at a busy time in the school’s calendar with students preparing for their end-of-degree shows.

The fire is understood to have started when a projector exploded in the A-listed building’s basement.
