Craigslist prank, Pearl Road: Officers were called at 11:35 a.m. May 20 to the Strongsville City Schools Administrative Office when officials discovered a student created a Craigslist ad putting the high school up for sale.
The price? $1.
No word if there were any interested parties. Police are investigating.
Graffiti, Gate Post Road: Police were called at 4:59 p.m. May 15 to Gate Post Road by the association president who caught three kids spray painting the culvert.
An officer talked to a juvenile who lived at the condominiums. It turned out he wasn’t spray painting the culvert but instead, naturally, spray painting a tennis ball.
This explains why he had paint all over his hands. The officer talked to the boy’s father who said he would handle the situation.
Attempted shoplifting, SouthPark Mall: Mall security called police at 7:08 p.m. May 15 regarding juvenile females stuffing clothes into a bag. However, the girls dumped the stolen merchandise before leaving the store.
The security official said the store didn’t want to pursue charges but the girls were advised of the initial complaint.
Suspicious teenagers, SouthPark Mall: A bank employee called police at 12:24 p.m. May 16 regarding three juveniles with backpacks sitting in the lobby. It turned out the students received early dismissal from school and were waiting for an RTA bus.
Suspicious person, Pearl Road: At 11:11 p.m. May 16, a police officer noticed a suspicious older male wearing a skull cap and blue jeans walking around a car wash parking lot shining a flashlight at vacuum machines.
The officer said the man worked at the car wash.
Hit-skip, Jonathan Drive: A resident called police at 11:45 p.m. May 16 after her green Ford Escape was hit by a car. The woman said she went outside after hearing a loud crash and found her car damaged.
White paint was visible on her car. The woman said the car that left the scene had a loud muffler. Police are investigating.
Drunken driving, W. 130th: At 11:55 p.m. May 16, police pulled over a gold Dodge Intrepid that was seen weaving and crossing the double yellow line into oncoming traffic on W. 130th.
After failing a field sobriety test, the driver was arrested for drunken driving.
Disorderly intoxication, Prospect Road: Police were called at 4:10 a.m. May 17 regarding a man sleeping on the ground along Prospect Road. The man was drunk and cited for disorderly intoxication.
He was also given a courtesy ride to his mother’s house.
Suspicious behavior, SouthPark Mall: Police were called at 10:03 p.m. May 17 to Red Lobster regarding people rolling joints in the bar. The manager talked to an officer outside of the restaurant saying she was more concerned they were drunk and would try to drive.
Once the men paid their bill, the manager let the police know they were leaving. The officer talked to the men, who were not impaired and also didn’t possess any marijuana.
Gunfire scare, Pearl Road: An off-duty police officer called 911 at 10:55 p.m. May 17 to report a possible shot fired in the Michaud’s Town ‘N’ Country Ballroom.
The officers said the gunfire sound came from a table being turned over during an argument. There were no arrests made.
Wallet found, Carol Drive: A found wallet was returned at 5:40 p.m. May 18 to the police department, which contacted the owner. The man suspected it was stolen from his girlfriend’s car, which had been parked unlocked the night before.
The man said all of his credit cards were there but he was missing his social security card.
Construction noise wakeup, Darice Parkway: An annoyed resident called police at 6:55 a.m. May 19 regarding concrete workers putting in a new parking lot behind his home.
The loud noise woke him up. The workers were told of the issue and agreed not to begin before 7 a.m. going forward.
Disturbance, Meadow North Court: A neighbor called police at 2:59 p.m. May 19 regarding a man heard yelling, screaming and cursing from inside of his house.
An officer talked to the man, who was advised of the complaint. He said he would keep it down.
Intoxicated guest, Howe Road: A resident called police at 7:39 p.m. May 19 regarding a drunk guest who wouldn’t leave her garage. An officer gave the Cleveland woman a courtesy ride to the bus stop.
Shoplifting, SouthPark Mall: Police were called at 10:45 a.m. May 20 regarding a woman with a stroller in the children’s department seen stuffing shirts into a bag.
She was apprehended by security and cited with a shoplifting misdemeanor by police.
Suspicious person, Westwood Drive: A passing motorist called police at 8:24 a.m. May 21 regarding a juvenile sleeping on a park bench located in front of the library.
An officer talked to the home-schooled student who said he was waiting for the library to open. He was supposed to meet a teacher there. The officer advised him to visit a park nearby where his slumber won’t be noticed by passing cars.
