Gov. Susana Martinez traveling to East Coast for political events

Gov. Susana Martinez headed to the East Cost today on a two-day trip that will include a GOP governors’ meeting and a high-profile fundraiser for her re-election campaign.

The governor’s first stop will be New York City, where Martinez will attend a Republican Governors Association meeting, her campaign spokesman Chris Sanchez said. The RGA will pay for the cost of the governor’s travel.

Martinez is then slated to travel to the Washington D.C. area tomorrow, where she will raise money for her campaign at a fundraiser featuring a who’s who of national Republican politicians.

U.S. House Speaker John Boehner, Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus and U.S. Sens. Marco Rubio of Florida and Rand Paul of Kentucky are among the listed guests for the event, which will be held at the home of the CEO and president of the American Beverage Association. Martinez has traveled out of state extensively in recent months, having been in at least five states during the last three months for political events.

Martinez is scheduled to return to New Mexico on Thursday, Sanchez said. Her re-election campaign will cover the travel expenses for the Washington D.C. leg and her return trip.
