Saline shopping center listed for sale for $1.9 million

The owners of the Saline Gallery Shopping Center have listed the eight-store plaza – anchored by tenants Dollar General and ACO Harware – for sale, with a price tag of $1.9 million.

The Jaster Corporation, a Farmington Hills-based company with offices in Canada, said that it was “a corporate decision” to list the 38,650-square-foot property at 423 E. Michigan Ave. for sale.

The shopping center sits on four acres and includes eight units, four of which are unoccupied. The plaza also shares entrances with the post office, CVS Pharmacy and Busch’s Grocery Center.

Larry Warren, vice president of the Jaster Corporation, said that tenants of the property had not yet been informed of the company’s decision to sell. He mentioned that the plaza has had some financial struggles in its 34-year existence.

“It was a corporate decision,” he said. “The closing of ACO (this summer) might have had something to do with this sale, but it’s hard to tell. We don’t yet have a timetable of when we’re expecting to sell.”

As of now, only four of the eight units are occupied. Current tenants include Dollar General, which has a lease through 2019, ACO Hardware, with a lease ending on Oct. 31, 2014, a dry cleaners and Total Sports Shop on month-to-month leases.
