It hasn’t been fashionable to bash the Nintendo Wii U for a while now. In fact, the console has courted a lot of praise over the last few months, thanks to hits like Super Mario 3D World, Donky Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and the forthcoming Mario Kart 8 each attracting intrigued, if not jealous glances from PS4 and Xbox One owners.

However, when it comes to non-home grown titles, there still seemed to be a gulf that major publishers are unwilling to fill. Apart from Ubisoft, that is. It has consistently supported the console with versions of some of its A-list games.

You can get Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag for the Wii U, Splinter Cell Blacklist too. And now it has been revealed that one of the most eagerly anticipated titles is still definitely coming to the platform too. Watch Dogs will be available for the Nintendo machine in the autumn, after it was originally delayed with some suggesting that it had been canned altogether.

Admittedly, that’s a number of months after every other version. The Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, Xbox One and PC versions of the game will be available on 27 May in the UK. But it shows that the French publisher has not turned its back on Wii U owners.

The date was confirmed on a now-pulled store listing on the US Uplay site, and apparently has been confirmed by an Ubisoft representative in the country.

Could things be looking up for Wii U? We still feel Nintendo will need a particularly strong E3 in June to convince us though.
