A POLICE force has said it will visit any sites where people are suspected of getting involved in so-called dogging.

Dogging involves people meeting in public places for sex – usually in cars.

A number of websites are openly listing popular dogging locations in south west Wales.

Some of these sites tell people what kind of sexual activity they can expect at that particular location.

At one site people are instructed to flash their lights to advertise their interest – one flash meaning female, two flashes for a couple and three flashes for a male.

The listed sites in Swansea include Caswell Bay car park, the car park opposite Singleton Hospital, Swansea, alongside Swansea prom, and the woods by Penllergaer services, at junction 47 of the M4 known

In Port Talbot sites mentioned include the top end of Aberavon beach.

A car park in Jersey Marine is mentioned, along with woods at Margam.

In Porthcawl potential doggers are being directed to the Kenfig Reservation Pool car park area close to junction 37 of the M4.

Bridgend sites are said to include the layby on the A48 east of Pyle towards Bridgend, the science park just off the A48, and Coity Road, behind a tyre business

Carmarthenshire has a number of sites listed including the sand dunes at Pembrey country park, a long layby on the A48 around a mile from the M4 junction 49, a car park in Bynea, and a layby on the right just after red roses, heading toward Pembroke on the A477.

A spokesman for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “We are aware that there are websites advertising this type of behaviour. Any locations that come to the attention of the police will be visited.

“If a member of the public is concerned about any such activity in their area they are advised to contact their local police.

“Police will investigate reports of this type of behaviour and if any criminal incidents arise then proportionate action will be taken.

“Reports of such instances in the Carmarthenshire area are very rare.”
