PETERBOROUGH — The former YMCA building, an architectural landmark in downtown Peterborough since 1895, has been listed for sale by its current owner, Dr. Jenny Ingram.
Billed as a “mixed use redevelopment opportunity” by listing broker DTZ Eastern Ontario Limited based in Kingston, the asking price for the property, at George and Murray streets, is $1,475,000.
Dr. Ingram, a well-respected local geriatrician and president of the Kawartha Regional Memory Clinic, bought the building from the YMCA for $1 in 2007, her plan being to convert the more than 107,600 square foot space into a community centre for seniors with commercial and residential components. Those plans, for whatever reason, have yet to come fruition and the building is currently vacant, according to the real estate listing.
Calls to Dr. Ingram for comment on the sale have not been returned.
