AUSTRALIAN tennis star Lleyton Hewitt and his wife, former Home Away actress Bec, are selling off their Palm Beach home for more than $5.5 million.

The couple are now based in the Bahamas with their three children – Ava, Cruz and Mia.

Despite his recent strong result on the Australian tennis circuit – Hewitt beat Roger Federer in the Brisbane International – the family will continue to be based overseas and have decided to sell off the surplus Australian property.

They are seeking expressions of interest for the home at 9 Palm Beach Road, Palm Beach north of Avalon in New South Wales.

Marketing agent Glenn Lee of Raine Horne Palm Beach said the home has ocean views from Barrenjoey Headland to Palm Beach Rock Pool.

He expects it will sell for more than $5. 5 million. Expressions of interest for the home close on April 2.

The Hewitt’s have also been trying to sell their mansion at 29 Martin Court, West Lakes, Adelaide for some time.

It was listed in September last year for $3 million through Harcourts Aqua and is still listed on realestate.com.au with no price attached to it.

It’s understood the home had been listed silently since 2008.

The Hewitt’s bought that home in 2003 for $3.2 million but did not live in it for long.

Mr Lee said the Hewitt’s bought the Palm Beach property in April 2005 for $4.4 million.

“The family is now based in the Bahamas, where they spend the majority of their time as the island is a more convenient destination for them to jump on and off the hectic tennis circuit,” Mr Lee said.

They already had an association with the Palm Beach area, from when Bec stared in the Palm Beach-based Home Away.

Mr Lee said it was possible the property’s celebrity credentials would help attract interest.

The three-level home has sheltered alfresco areas with panoramic ocean views and is 300 metres from the beach. The master bedroom has deluxe ensuite and walk in robe.

The only thing missing is a tennis court.
