Obstetrician and gynaecologist Dr Michael van der Griend and his wife Solveigh have listed their post-Federation Killara residence.

Set in Peter Fudge designed and managed gardens, the seven bedrooms, five bathroom house has been listed through Brent Courtney and Jon Dundas-Smith of McGrath Estate Agents for March 8 auction.

It was 1999 when the couple purchased the property on Arnold Street, Killara.

The grand 1918 bungalow has had over $3 million in renovations carried out, its redesign inspired by the lake houses of Northern Ontario, Canada. 

With a mix of classic and contemporary finishes, there is a large open plan kitchen, several living spaces and formal lounge room. Also a 1,000 bottle refrigerated wine cellar.

The 2,460 square metre grounds come with tennis court, resort style gas heated pool and outdoor kitchen with an authentic Italian pizza oven.

There is a guest house in the grounds.

The couple are looking forward to a change of scenery, planning to move from the quiet suburb to the fast pace of inner Sydney.

More than $6 million is expected by the van der Griend couple who are planning to move from the quiet suburb to  inner Sydney.

Dr van der Griend will still continue his practice on the North Shore.
