Catching up with Darrell Hall of YachtZoo earlier this week, he shared similar views on the 2014 brokerage market that many brokers have been discussing with SuperyachtNews.com. “Last year was a good year for everyone generally” begins Hall “and it’s something the team and I hope will continue into the better part of this year”. With many brokers in agreement on the overall economy bouncing back, Hall is seeing more and more activity from emerging markets as well. “We are seeing strong strides in South America, Brazil and parts of the Chinese markets, with money flowing back into Singapore and Malaysia as well”.

The average LOA continues to grow, most notably with the launch of 180m Lurssen built Azzam and the recent sale of 88m Quatroelle. Hall continues “the demand is still there for the larger yachts, with the younger generation joining the market at a greater LOA than in the past.” As for the rest of this year, Hall explains “we’re seeing plenty of green shoots and I think the best we can do is remain positive”.

The week running 4 – 10 February saw five sales completed, eight new central agencies announced, 11 price reductions made and one yacht withdrawn from the market.
