GENESEE COUNTY, MI — More than schools were closed Monday, Jan. 27, due to the cold and the slippery roads.
Various after-school events and other organizations issued cancellations as well.
Flushing schools announced that they were canceling all athletic events for Jan. 27, and according to a message on the Genesee Intermediate School District’s main phone line, all GISD events and services were also canceled due to the weather.
Also canceled were two evening rehearsals at the Flint Institute of Music.
The Flint Festival Chorus and the Flint Youth Wind Ensemble rehearsals for the evening werre both canceled. A recent announcement from the Flint School of Performing Arts said the building was open but was advising that students and parents use their discretion weather to attend classes or lessons.
According to NBC, other cancellations of evening activities included Byron Area Schools, Carman-Ainsworth Community Schools, New Lothrop Area Public Schools, St. Hedwig Church and Unionville-Sebewaing Area Schools.
