With 139 sales over 30m closed in 2013, and 25 new build projects signed, the year saw consistent sales throughout the year. Not only did sales remain steady, but fewer price reductions were announced overall for the year. Many brokers SuperyachtNews.com spoke with in 2013 were maintaining a healthy level of optimism for 2014 with more realistic pricing and buyers and sellers coming to terms with today’s market and not the heydays of pre-2008. As Steen Christensen from Camper Nicholsons shared prior to the break, more realistic pricing, paired with the higher educated clients of today “will make the market improve and hopefully make 2014 a year where sales and the value of yachts become more stable”.

The week running 17 December – 6 January saw 16 sales completed, four new central agencies announced, four price reductions made and one price increase.
