Vachery ‘Try-a-Tri’ Triathlon in findarace.com top 6 ‘non-scary triathlons’

The Vachery ‘Try-a-tri’ Triathlon, one of a number of sporting events being held at the Vachery Estate, Cranleigh, Surrey on 20th July 2014, has been commended by the industry leading race finder website, findarace.com, for being one of the best beginner friendly triathlons in the whole country.

The ‘Try-a-tri’ is held over the Super Sprint distance and starts at the Vachery Estate with a 400m swim in the beautiful, clear and safe private lake within the grounds, before entrants jump on their bikes for a fun and testing 15km route through the quiet country lanes in the surrounding area of outstanding beauty, before returning to the estate for the 5km run through the private roads free of traffic within the grounds. A grand finish awaits those who complete the challenge, with a buzzing atmosphere set by the 2,000 entrants, athletes’ village, pro race, on-site bar and restaurant, entertainment and thousands of spectators who can enjoy the spectacle for free.

We all need to start somewhere, and a triathlon swim can be one of the most intimidating places to start of all. With this in mind, we’ve put together a list of triathlons specifically aimed at the beginner. The triathlons selected are for anyone thinking of trying a tri next year.

We chose the ‘Try-a-tri’ event, part of the Vachery Triathlon weekend, with standard and middle distance races, plus fun activities for all the family, great camping and a festival experience with music, food and more. As an introduction to triathlon and set in an area of outstanding natural beauty, this event is tough to beat.

Race organiser Mark Davis commented:

We are delighted that findarace.com has chosen the Vachery ‘Try-a-tri’ as one of their top races in the UK for beginners. It really is a special venue and a fantastic atmosphere and we would welcome anyone who wants to race their first triathlon to Cranleigh, Surrey on the 20th July.

All entrants to the Vachery Triathlon will receive a commemorative T-Shirt and every finisher receives a medal and complimentary food and drink and More Than Massage physio post-race care. The event promises to offer something for everyone, with on-site camping within the Vachery Estate, an exhibitor’s area featuring the latest in triathlon gear and produce from local suppliers plus fun activities for all the family who will enjoy the great atmosphere and countryside whilst you race. Athletes and their families can enjoy a pasta-party in the evening before the race and even get fuelled up with our racers breakfast on race-day morning.

In addition to the ‘Try-a-tri’ Super Sprint, there is also the option to enter the standard and half-iron distance race, the latter of which offers the biggest prize purse in the country and is set to attract yet again some of the country’s best triathletes to Surrey for a weekend of elite sport. There are a variety of kid’s triathlon races being held on the 19th July so the whole family can take part.
The Vachery Estate is located just outside the picturesque village of Cranleigh in the Surrey Hills, only minutes from London and the motorways, M25, M23 and M3.
