Last year veteran tight end Tony Gonzalez was leaning heavily towards retirement and made it sound like it was a done deal after the Falcons lost to the 49ers in the NFC Championship game.
During the off-season, the Atlanta Falcons were pushing hard for Gonzalez to come back. He had higher ups, teammates reaching out too him in hopes of one more run for all the marbles. Well, we all know that Gonzalez decided to come back, but I doubt this is how he saw the season going.
I’m sure everybody involved with the Atlanta Falcons didn’t see this season coming, but at least they have a high draft pick in next years draft.
Gonzalez is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game with a toe injury as he was limited during practice, but I don’t think he’s in danger of missing Week 16. The veteran has 740 receiving yards and seven touchdowns off 71 receptions in 2013.
Tony Gonzalez (toe) listed as questionable but expected to play. Antone Smith (knee) also questionable. Thomas DeCoud (concussion) probable.

Other injury updates for the Atlanta Falcons involve Antone Smith and Darius Johnson. Smith is listed as questionable with a knee injury after returning to practice this week. He missed last Sunday’s game against the Washington Redskins.
Wide receiver Darius Johnson will not be playing on Monday Night against the San Francisco 49ers. He’s dealing with a high ankle sprain and remained sidelined during practice.
