Torey Krug has proven that he’s not just a flash in the pan for the Boston Bruins this season. He’s been a boon for the B’s on the power play and has been solid defensively as well. He was curiously absent from the team’s practice today according to ESPN Boston, and the team has released no details about an ailment of any kind except to say that he’ll be day-to-day.
McQuaid and Krug day-to-day, per Julien ^CS — Boston Bruins (@NHLBruins) December 3, 2013
ESPN notes in their report that Krug blocked a shot while playing against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday, but the defenseman returned to finish that contest.
It’s unclear at this point if the day-to-day listing is coming as a result of that incident, or if something else is preventing the rookie sensation from taking the ice. Krug’s name has been mentioned among early Calder Trophy favorites, and it’s easy to see why. He’s second in rookie scoring and trails only Tomas Hertl of the San Jose Sharks in that regard. He has as many points as Nathan MacKinnon and has one more than Sean Monahan, to put his offensive output from the blue line in perspective.
