A FIVE-star hotel has been put up for sale.
The lease for Gadds Town House, on Old Elvet, in Durham City, is available for £260,000.
The Georgian hotel has 11 individually themed rooms, a public bar and popular restaurant.
It has been rated as a five-star destination by Visit England, it stands on the edge of the city centre and turnover in the year to June was more than £750,000.
Owner Nigel Gadd said: “We have decided to sell as our daughter, who was to run and own the hotel, has now decided to become a full time live at home mum.
“Gadds Town House now trades very well, however, we feel that under the stewardship of a more hands on owner operator and with the introduction of some operational changes it could easily become a phenomenal business.”
The venue was previously The Fallen Angel Hotel, which had rooms on themes including Doctor Who, Cruella de Vil and a French boudoir.
Mr Gadd, who has also run Shincliffe’s Seven Stars Inn and Pump House Restaurant and Thai restaurant Zen, added: “We purchased the hotel three-and-a-half years ago.
“In that time it has been transformed at huge expense from a novelty to a quality driven hotel. The buyer will instantly reap the benefit of the investment and its reputation.”
The sale is being handled by Christie and Co, of Newcastle. For more information, call 0191-222-1740.
