Transfer-listed Ashley Timms can still have a future at Boston United

Dennis Greene says transfer-listed goalkeeper Ashley Timms could still have a future at Boston United.

The former Manchester City stopper was made available for transfer or loan last week after Pilgrims boss Greene questioned the player’s attitude in the wake of the 3-3 draw with Harrogate Town.

But after Timms showed a positive reaction in training on Thursday, Greene decided to play his first-choice keeper against Altrincham on Saturday rather than promoted highly-rated youngster Sam Vince.

The Pilgrims went on to win 3-2 to move up to third in Skrill North after delivering arguably their best display of the season. After the match, Greene praised his keeper and says he could remain at the Jakemans Stadium, provided he maintains the right focus.

“Ashley did well. He listened to everything, he was focused and, because of that, he had a decent game,” said Greene.

“We’ve covered it with Ashley. He can lose concentration. All I need is for him to concentrate on training twice a week the best he can and concentrate on match days and do what we ask of him. If he does that, I’ve got no problem with Ash.”

When asked if Timms had a future at the club and could come off the transfer list if he remains focused, Greene replied: “Of course.”
