With FLIBS opening later this week, Mark Elliott, broker and charter agent at IYC shares that “on the heels of a solid Monaco Yacht Show. IYC will have a strong presence at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show with great listings available”. Although the American market has been filled with uncertainty as of late, Elliott feels that “perhaps the idea of the yacht as a solid investment will gain the kind of traction it had in the mid-2000s”.
As for the market on the whole, Elliott believes “global market activity is generally up in both charter bookings and with buyers feeling more comfortable about owing. It remains worth noting that buyers continue the trend of low-balling offers. As ever” Elliott cautions “cash remains king.”
