Chris Casquilho, who was recently hired at Western Washington University to oversee marketing and special projects for the College of Fine and Performing Arts, recently sent me the lineup of performances, events and exhibits. Kit Spicer is currently interim dean for the college.
It’s quite a robust schedule, and it’s my hope that the entire arts community of Whatcom County and beyond will take advantage of these terrific (and often free) events on the hill. Remember, events are always subject to change.
For details, go to this webpage for the College of Fine and Performing Arts.
In addition to the events listed here, the college also hosts an education matinee series for students 5 through 17. Details are at this website.
The college’s Multicultural Outreach Tour is a program based on literature with a common theme that celebrates diversity and that takes WWU students into K-5 classrooms. Details are this webpage for the theatre and dance department.
The annual Monologue Project links WWU student actors with students from Fairhaven Middle School to develop and produce original monologues, staged at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 5-7 at Firehouse Performing Arts Center, 1314 Harris Ave.
The fifth annual Masked Ball and Auction scholarship fundraiser is Feb. 22 at Hotel Bellwether.
Tickets for events can be purchased at WWU’s box office (also the contact for disability accommodations) or call 360-650-6146.
And don’t forget Western’s award-winning outdoor sculpture collection.
