HATFIELD TWP — If you’re interested in buying a slightly used historic home from Hatfield Township, you have three weeks to make your bid.
As of Tuesday afternoon the township’s historic Williams Kindig House is now listed for sale, via online auction site Municibid.com.
“Using Municibid is a cost-free, quick and legal approach to both gauge interest and hopefully sell the property,” township Manager Aaron Bibro said Tuesday.
The listing includes a starting bid and reserve price of $25,000 “so there is little risk for the township,” Bibro said, with an 8 percent buyer’s fee and description of the home’s features: 2,800 square feet, three bedrooms and two-and-a-half baths, “on a 1.1 acre wooded lot set back approximately 1,000 feet from (Welsh) road at the end of a long, narrow lane.”
Payment details on the listing state that the settlement will take place within 60 days of the execution of agreement of sale, and the township’s commissioners are scheduled to hold their business meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 25, just three and a half hours after the listing is slated to close.
Township zoning officer Ken Amey is listed as the main contact for any interested bidders, and Bibro said the listing was written in a collaborative effort by township staff, based on the commissioners’ authorization to begin the sale process. Those interested can contact Amey through the township at (215) 855-0900 or by emailing KAmey@hatfield-township.org for more information.
Sale of the historic home has been a subject of discussion by the township’s commissioners for much of 2013, as the township has included proceeds from the sale in its budget and taken several steps to clarify property lines and secure driveway access to the house.
