Eric Trupheme experienced a busy week in the Ocean Independence office last week with two sales closed. He spoke with SuperyachtNews.com following the sale of Obsession II and shared she was a “direct to client sale, with no other brokers involved”. Incidentally, Paolyre, Trupheme’s other sale last week, was closed direct to client as well. She “was a very fast sale and her new owner plans to keep cruising the Mediterranean for the season”. While the sailing yacht market has not fared as well as motoryachts in recent years, Trupheme believes we are slowly beginning to see an improvement in this sector.

As for the market on the whole, Trupheme shares “we are seeing many positive points, certainly an improvement to past years. With it remaining a buyers market, we are seeing more people looking to enter the market which shows much promise for the future.” Trupheme shares he and the Ocean Independence team will be at Cannes and MYS “as every year, meeting with clients, making new contacts and hopefully those will lead to future yacht sales”.

The week running 28 August – 2 September saw six sales completed, eight new central agencies announced, and five price reductions made.
