Guns-for-stuff events return Thursday

Central Florida’s gun buybacks are rarely boring.

One year, someone turned in an carry case for an anti-tank missile.

Another year, someone else got rid of a World War II-era gun shaped like a pen.

The annual guns-for-items event will be held at various locations across Central Florida on Thursday.

The no-questions-asked Kicks 4 Guns event is aimed at getting unwanted weapons out of circulation.

Participants get such items as gift cards, sneakers or gas cards, depending on the location, in exchange for donated firearms.

Most buybacks are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
