An American cedar bonnet top chest — that a seller on eBay says is from Bermuda circa 1780 — is listed for sale at $15,950.
The online sales listing says, “A fine American cedar bonnet top chest on chest from Bermuda circa 1780. The chest features a gorgeous patina, two short over three graduated drawers, the base having three drawers on bracket feet.
“The top has three replacement finials which are not attached. The finish and hardware are probably original though the nuts on all the pulls have been replaced by square ones.
“There is a fairly significant repair to the top. Other than that, the chest is in very good condition with normal wear and tear. It is approx. 68″ high by 39″ wide by 22″ deep”. The full sales listing can be found here.
