THERE are just under 30,000 listed buildings in Wales, with 515 in Swansea.

Welsh Government heritage body Cadw grants listed status to buildings, and can also de-list them.

A Cadw spokesman said: “We will consider any request for de-listing if it can be shown that it no longer meets the criteria for listing or was listed in error.

“The criteria for listed a building are based primarily around a building’s historic and architectural value.

“Other factors such as economic or structural viability cannot be taken into consideration, nor can we consider de-listing a building if it’s is currently, or may be subject to, any kind of enforcement action or legal process,” added the spokesman.
