If you are looking for something to do this weekend, something the whole family can enjoy, come out to the Cut Bank International Airport Aug. 16-18 and see what the Montana Fun Weekend is all about.
Friday night, Aug. 16, kicks off the weekend with a burnout contest starting at 8 p.m. Admission for the burnout event is $3 at the gate and if you enter the contest it is $10 per event.
Right after the burnout contest, a drive-in movie, American Graffiti will be shown. Admission to the movie is free and there will be food and beverages available for moviegoers. Remember to bring lawn chairs or something comfortable to sit on while kicking back and enjoying a true American classic movie.
Saturday is the busiest day of the weekend, with things starting off early and running until dark. Admission for Saturday is $7 for the entire day, with 12 and under getting in the gate free.
The Cut Bank Moose Lodge will be making breakfast for anyone who wants to start the day early, serving from 7-11 a.m. It costs $7 for an all you can eat plate, but if you plan on making just one trip through the food line, it is $5.
The auto, cycle and airplane show begins at 9 a.m. Registrants will pay $10 per entry, with cash prizes being awarded to the show participants throughout the day.
From 3-4 p.m., the airplanes will take to the sky for the popular bowling ball bombing competition. Airplanes drop bowling balls from high overhead, all in hopes of hitting their target, a beat-up old car sitting in the infield of the runway. The cash prize for a direct hit is $650 and $250 for a bounce hit.
At 5 p.m., the eighth of a mile drag races start and will run until it gets dark. This, like the bowling ball bombing, is a major draw for the Montana Fun Weekend, with the stands filling up and people cheering for their favorite hot rod car.
All day Saturday, there will be food and beverage vendors hanging out in the hangar, serving up lunch or snack items as well as your favorite alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
Sunday, Aug. 18, is the last day of the weekend event with the Cut Bank Moose Lodge once again serving breakfast from 7-11 a.m.
