Every six months, the local fashion scene rallies together for a week of fashion events during Minneapolis-St. Paul Fashion Week. Fall’s interation, announced today by nonprofit organization MNfashion, will take place on September 20 to the 28, with events ranging from runway shows to an after-hours garden party. Marquee events include the ever-popular “Envision: Artopia,” which features fall lines from local designers and shops at the Graves 601 hotel (Sept. 20) and “Full Fashion Panic,” a steampunk/Lolita fashion show held during the annual Schoolgirls and Mobile Suits manga/anime conference at MCAD (Sept. 28). A new addition this year is the inclusion of the Walker Art Center’s Sculpture Garden fundraiser, “Avant Garden,” coupled with the Walker After Hours party to kick off the upcoming Claes Oldenburg: The Sixties exhibit, which encourages guest to dress in the ’60s best (Sept. 21).
The signature event of Minneapolis-St. Paul Fashion Week are “The Shows,” two nights of runway shows featuring spring/summer 2014 lines by local designers (Sept. 25 26) and the Emerging Designer and Accessories Designer Showcase (Sept. 24). The Shows will return to Aria with new and returning names like Project Runway‘s Christopher Straub, Samantha Rei, Lindsey Hopkins, Caroline Hayden, Idle Child, Tim and Thom Navarro, Cocoon, Union and Hackwith Design House.
More information on tickets and events will be listed on MNfashion.org; tickets for “Avant Garden” and Walker After Hours are available now at walkerart.org.
