Belgian Bill: Could go abroad
Belgian Bill could go abroad in search of Listed success to help promote him as a prospective stallion.
The Royal Hunt Cup winner cut no ice in the Bunbury Cup over seven furlongs at Newmarket on Saturday and trainer George Baker will step the five-year-old back up to a mile.
“It didn’t work out for him at Newmarket and we won’t run him over seven again,” the Manton trainer told At The Races.
“He’ll go back to a mile, he’s rated over 100 again now and maybe the sensible thing to do is to look for a Listed race abroad.
“He’s still an entire horse and we may look at the option of him being a stallion one day on the continent, maybe in Germany. If we can sneak him over there and get him some black type, it might help that plan.
“He’s in the Betfred Mile at Goodwood, that’s an option, and he could be a Cambridgeshire horse.”
