£7k grant for Llanelli listed building

A TRUST in charge of a Grade II listed building in Llanelli has been awarded more than £7,000 towards repairs.

The Llanelli Railway Goods Shed Trust has been awarded a grant of £7,300 from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF), money that go towards the capital cost of the repair works to the Grade II listed Goods Shed.

The work will also enable the trust to put on general activities that will help the public in the town to learn more about its significance.

The trust was set up in 2011 with the aim of restoring the shed — one of the few remaining examples of its kind in the country — and bringing it back to community use. Plans include an arts hub, with other additional uses are also being considered
