Hospital benefit to support Pediatric and Neonatal Units

Dance “Under the Stars” and celebrate Greenwich Hospital’s tiniest patients on July 12 at a benefit for the Pediatric Department and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

Described as a casual fund-raising event, the Under the Stars benefit will provide an evening of dining and dancing with live, silent and wine auctions, emceed by Gideon Fountain, with entertainment by Night Market.

The event will honor Patricia Beirne, program director of the hospital’s Women’s and Children’s Services. Ms. Beirne began her career at Greenwich Hospital in 1971, and was promoted to head nurse in the Recovery Room by 1974. From there she moved into the Maternity, Labor and Delivery Unit where, in 2005, she was appointed to the nurse manager position.

In 2007 Ms. Beirne took on her current role as program director. Her leadership, guidance and dedication to both the patients and staff led to a distinctive nomination in 2000 for the Helen Meehan Award for Excellence in Nursing.

Greenwich Hospital’s Pediatric Department offers a full range of inpatient and outpatient programs to meet the health and development needs of children from birth through 21 years of age. The staff includes pediatricians, medical specialists, nutritionists, therapists, psychologists and other experts.

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit accommodates the growing number of newborns from Connecticut and New York who require special care. As a Level III NICU, infants are monitored 24 hours per day by neonatologists, specially trained neonatal nurses and neonatal nurse practitioners using the most sophisticated and up-to-date equipment. The hospital is committed to enhancing and expanding all its programs for newborns and children. Nearly 20,000 children were born at, treated at or admitted to Greenwich Hospital last year.

To support these vital hospital departments, attendees may purchase a benefactor table of 10 for $10,000, a sponsor table of 10 for $5,000, a patron table of 10 for $3,500, friend tickets for $250, benefactor tickets for $1,000, sponsor tickets for $500, patron tickets for $350 and the “buy a nurse a ticket” deal for $250.

Benefactors, sponsors, patrons and underwriters receive invitations to the patron reception, preferred seating, and recognition in press releases, the magazine, event materials and more. The cost is $150 per ticket and the purchase price is tax deductible.

Families and companies can support the fund-raiser in many ways. Aside from advertising, sponsorship and underwriting opportunities, families or companies can purchase items from the hospital’s Wish List. Supporters will be reflected on signage at the event, listed in the event program as well as possibly in the NICU or Pediatric Department, depending on the item purchased. The entire Wish List donation amount is 100% tax deductible. Underwriting, sponsorships and magazine advertising opportunities are available at various levels for this event.
