Looking for an affordable weekday lunch around The Loop? Want that lunch to be serviced in the vicinity of lots of wine? BIN 36 is introducing a new $5 lunch special. Tuesday
Now that we know that a pastry chef can cook up a mean burger, find out what a bartender can do. This week, Publican Quality Meats’ burger night features Big Star’s spirits director Ben Fasman. His burger will go up against the signature Publican burger, along with bourbon and beer specials between 6 and 9 PM (312-445-8977).
Wednesday
Thursday is a holiday, which means you can enjoy a guilt-free “Wine Down Wednesday.” III Forks spends the month of July focusing on women winemakers. Join
wine director Lance for a tasting of wines produces by women, including Boutari, a Greek winery. The event costs $15 (312-938-4303).
Friday
Get ready to scream for ice cream. The weekly pop-up shop, Jove T.’s Ice Cream Shop, returns to David Burke’s Primehouse every Friday from 3 to 5 PM. Flavors change weekly and are announced on the restaurant’s Facebook and Twitter pages (312-660-6000).
Saturday
See the live version of this month’s Food Wine magazine during a cooking demo at Belly q. The demi includes recipes from the magazine including Lola’s roast chicken with sambai chimichurri, spiced shrimp with tomato salsa and avocado, and corn on the cob with curry mayonnaise and Chile salt. After the demo, sample the dishes with pitchers of Riesling sangria. Tickets cost $50 (312-563-1010).
Sunday
Indonesian pop-up restaurant, The Rice Table, celebrates grilling month with some extra spice at Vincent. The four-course menu features three types of sateh, including marinated and grilled mussel skewers as well as fired beef and potato stuffed jalapeno. Tickets cost $45 and are available online.
