Apache County 4th of July weekend events

APACHE COUNTY — There are plenty of ways to celebrate our nation’s birthday in Apache County this year. With the Fourth of July on a Thursday, activities will be spread out over the weekend.

The following events are listed by the community they are in.

Springerville-Eagar

Thursday, July 4:

— The Eagar Volunteer Fire Department’s 31st annual pancake breakfast, 6-9 a.m. at Ramsey Park.

— The annual Fourth of July parade theme this year is “In Support of the U.S. Constitution” and will start at 10 a.m. in Eagar and continue along the main street to Springerville and turn on U.S. 60 to the American Legion.

— The 101th annual White Mountain Sheriff’s Posse rodeo starts at 1:30 p.m. at the rodeo grounds in Eagar. There will be fireworks at dusk, followed by a rodeo dance at 9 p.m., featuring the band Crossfire.

— The American Legion Post 30 will be hosting a cookout from noon to 2 p.m. at the Post in Springerville.

— The Boy Scouts will be hosting an Independence Day barbecue at Ramsey Park in Eagar from noon until 7 p.m.

— The Round Valley High School Class of 1973 will be riding in the parade and meeting at Trailriders restaurant in Eagar at 6 p.m. for dinner.

Friday, July 5:

— Sheriff’s Posse Rodeo Dance at rodeo grounds in Eagar, starting at 9 p.m., with the band Crossfire.

— The Round Valley High School Class of 1993 will have dinner at Trailriders at 5 p.m.

Saturday, July 6:

— The Round Valley High School Class of 1983 will have their reunion at the Greer Community Center from 5-11 p.m.

— The White Mountain Cowboy Poetry and Western Music show will be held at 26 Bar Ranch in Eagar and is open to the public starting at 6 p.m.

St. Johns

Thursday, July 4:

— The Fourth of July in the Park; starting with a 5 a.m. pancake breakfast followed by the 10 a.m. program and lunch served starting at 11:30 a.m. There will be races, games and activities for the kids.

Greer

Thursday, July 4:

— A patriotic presentation starts at 10:30 a.m. at the Greer Community center followed by the 11 a.m. bell ringing and annual barbecue from noon to 2 p.m.

Alpine

Thursday, July 4:

— Independence Day parade starting at 10 a.m. down Main Street. Worm races at Ye Olde Tavern are at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.  There will be events going on at the Alpine Community Center starting at 11 a.m.

— The Community Theater’s ninth annual summer melodrama will be at the Community Center starting at 7 p.m.

— A fireworks show will be put on by the Alpine Fire Department at the rodeo grounds starting at 8:30 p.m.

Friday and Saturday, July 6-7:

— The Alpine Area Artisans Display and Sale starting at 10 a.m. and going on all day along the main street.
