A Norfolk florist’s beautiful blooms and intricate floral arrangements have earned her the accolade of being named as one of the top people nationwide in her craft.

Jo Rodwell, who runs her business Jo Flowers from her home in Colney, near Norwich, was listed as one of the top UK florists by Harper’s Bazaar to mark the magazine’s Bazaar in Bloom edition in May.

Miss Rodwell said: “It was a complete surprise. I had a phone call one morning from a lady asking if I would like to be featured by Harper’s Bazaar, and I was really flattered.

“I am honoured to be in the top 20 list, a little bit shocked as well!

“It is lovely, and I have had quite a lot of positive feedback from it as well.”

Thirty-seven-year-old Miss Rodwell, who was brought up just outside of Diss, has been a florist for about eight years and trained at Easton college.

She is also a keen gardener and many of the flowers Miss Rodwell uses in her work – including sweet peas, foxgloves and poppies – are grown in her garden at home.

About her floristry work, she said: “I am inspired by nature and natural surroundings. I do not like formal floristry. I like quite wild arrangements.

“Some people have described my style as old English and quite romantic.

“I prefer to use muted tones when I am doing arrangements and lots of textures. I just like the romance of it all.”

About her work, the Harper’s Bazaar website says: “Joanna Rodwell creates beautifully delicate and simple arrangements from her base in Norfolk. There is a strong vintage-inspired element in her arrangements, no doubt due to Jo’s passion for styling. Her approach to floristry is simple and natural – you will find in her bouquets a lot of textures, muted colour combinations and seasonal finds from her garden and the Norfolk countryside.”
