Nearly £3m is to be spent refurbishing and restoring three listed railway stations in south Devon.

Station owner Network Rail said it was spending £2.8m for the work at Paignton, Torquay and Torre stations.

Managers said work would begin in the autumn and was due to be completed by April 2014.

Footbridges, station canopies and road bridges would be repaired and the stations would be repainted in matching “Riveria line” colours, they added.
