3 -14 June, Bonn, Germany. UNFCCC BONN CLIMATE CHANGE CONFERENCE. The UNFCCC is holding its annual mid-year negotiating sessions at the Maritim Hotel in Bonn, Germany from 3 -14 June. This year’s conference will host the thirty-eighth sessions of the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI 38) and the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA 38), as well as the third session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action (ADP 3). 14 June, Oslo, Norway. A STUDY OF ENVIRONMENTAL STANDARDS AND THEIR TRADE IMPACT ON INDIAN TEXTILES CLOTHING SECTOR. This meeting is organised by CUTS International with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Delhi and Royal Norwegian Embassy. Its objective is to share the findings of the study with the relevant stakeholders and discuss future course of action based on its recommendations. 17 June, London, UK. SCOPING TRILATERAL COOPERATION ON LOW CARBON ZONES IN AFRICA. This workshop will bring together experts from the EU, China, and African countries to share their experiences of, and perspectives on, implementing low carbon development. Organised by Chatham House, key questions include how the nature of the political economy vary around the world, given the obvious differences in stage of industrialisation, approaches to economic management, institutional capacities and resource endowments. 17-21 June, Geneva, Switzerland. TRADE AND DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION, FIFTH SESSION. The UNCTAD commission is an avenue for member states and other stakeholders to discuss trade and development issues related to the issue of building a more resilient, sustainable and inclusive development. There will also be consideration of the outcome of the expert meeting on tourism’s contribution to sustainable development as well as trends that are currently reshaping international maritime transport and trade. 18-19 June, Geneva, Switzerland. THIRD SUSTAINABLE LUXURY FORUM. The forum, organised by Sustainable Luxury Forum, is organised under the theme “How to balance business opportunities with social change and impact?” Topics that will be explored during the forum include shift in Luxury corporate social responsibility (CSR) culture, applying innovation to boost business and product development, communicating CSR philosophy, and going beyond philanthropy and responsible business towards impact creation. Targeting key decision makers from the Luxury industry, civil society, international organizations, think tanks and academic institutions, the forum provides a platform for exploring, debating and addressing current and emerging sustainability issues affecting the Luxury industry. 20 June 2013, Qingdao, China. ASIA FREE TRADE AGREEMENT FORUM 2013. Backed by Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Commerce, BFA and Qingdao City of Shandong Province will jointly sponsor the Asia FTA Forum 2013. Attracting some 200 attendees, the forum will cover economic integration in Asia and provide four sessions on a broad range of economic integration issues, including production networks, free trade agreements (FTAs), and the WTO. Other topics covered include the trilateral FTA between the People’s Republic of China (PRC), Republic of Korea, and Japan; the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement; and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).The one-day event also receives support from Asian Development Bank (ADB), ADB Institute, University of International Business and Economics (UIBE), and Jimo City Government. 25-28 June 2013, Manila, the Philippines. ASIA CLEAN ENERGY FORUM 2013. Jointly organised by ADB and USAID since 2006, the forum aims to bring together a diverse group of experts to share best practices in policy, technology, and finance to meet the region’s climate and energy security challenges. Target participants include stakeholders from governments, banks, project developers, and environmental regulators. This year’s forum will incorporate many of the previous side events into the main body of the forum, unlike previous years. Organisers hope this will allow for a more focused and condensed set of discussions on each of six key themes: policy, finance, energy efficiency, renewable energy, energy access, and emerging technologies. Other upcoming events

8-10 July, Geneva, Switzerland. FOURTH GLOBAL REVIEW OF AID FOR TRADE. This year’s event, held at the WTO, will focus on the theme ‘‘Connecting to Value Chains.” Organisers day the meeting will bring together ministers from developed and developing countries, heads of international agencies, and regional organisations, representatives from private sector companies and associations, and an array of trade and development experts. The review will examine the economic opportunities that trade in value added offers and the constraints that firms in developing, and in particular least-developed, countries face in connecting value chains. It will also focus on how Aid for Trade can assist in this process. The event builds on the results of an extensive monitoring and evaluation exercise undertaken jointly by the OECD and WTO, in collaboration with various others. More information is available here.

1-13 September 2013, Geneva, Switzerland. “GEPP EXECUTIVE SUMMER SCHOOL ON GLOBAL ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY.” The GEPP executive summer school provides an opportunity for 25 participants from public and the private sectors to enlarge their competences in order to address complex environmental issues. The modules aim to bridge the gap between scientific knowledge and concrete decision-making, problem-solving and negotiation skills. More information can be found on the website.

1-3 October 2013, Geneva, Switzerland. WTO PUBLIC FORUM: “EXPANDING TRADE THROUGH INNOVATION AND THE DIGITAL ECONOMY.” This annual WTO event aims to provide a platform for public debate across a range of trade issues and topics. This year’s forum specifically looks at the future of trade in an era of innovation and digitalisation. A call for proposals for sessions is now open and online registration is also available. 21-22 October 2013, London, UK. DELIVERING CONCRETE CLIMATE ACTION. Organised by Chatham House, this conference touches issues including how the emerging international climate change regime can deliver the necessary reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and to what extent new energy realities will affect the politics of climate change. Organisers describe the event as a unique opportunity to network with senior officials from businesses, government, NGO and academic institutions.
