In addition to the tomatoes taking center stage, the entertainment for the Hanover Tomato Festival also attracts the crowds to Pole Green Park.
Headlining the 35th anniversary festival will be up-and-coming country artist Craig Wayne Boyd.
The festival will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, at Pole Green Park at 8996 Pole Green Park Lane in Mechanicsville.
In 2012, Boyd’s debut country single “I Ain’t No Quitter” reached #35 on the Music Row Chart and #49 on the Billboard Indicator Chart.
His current single “Learning To Dance,” is on country radio playlists nationwide, and his debut album is slated for release in 2013.
Before Boyd hits the stage, festival-goers will be able to enjoy the sounds of the AcoustiPops. This duo has an acoustic-based style of rock, pop and country, and is sure to the audience singing along as they perform many favorites.
And the tradition continues with the Hanover Concert Band kicking off the event, which was started in 1978 by the Black Creek Volunteer Fire Department.
Music isn’t the only thing you will find on stage at the Tomato Festival.
The Little Miss and Tiny Miss Hanover Tomato Pageant winners will be crowned with the winners of all of the Tomato Contests will be announced.
