WASHINGTON – If you like music, motorcycles, parades and light shows, you’re
sure to find something to do this Memorial Day weekend.
Check out WTOP’s list of ways to honor those who have died for the U.S, as
well as kick off summer.
Almost all of the events listed here are free.

- National Memorial Day
Parade begins at 2 p.m. Monday. - National Memorial Day
Concert on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol begins at 8 p.m. Sunday. - Logan Circle Memorial Day
Commemoration events begin at 1 p.m. Monday. - Tours and a Memorial Day ceremony at President Lincoln’s Cottage
begin at 10 a.m. Monday. - Rolling Thunder motorcycle rally
includes events throughout the weekend.
VIRGINIA
- Air Force
Memorial Wreath-Laying begins at 9 a.m. Monday. - Alexandria Memorial Day Jazz Festival begins at 1 p.m.
Monday. - Arlington National Cemetery Wreath-Laying Ceremony
begins at 11 a.m. Monday. Attendees are encouraged to be there by 9:30 a.m. - Falls Church Memorial Day Parade begins at 2 p.m.
Monday. Other events are planned throughout the day. - Leesburg Memorial Day
Ceremony begins at 10 a.m. Monday. - Manassas National Battlefield Memorial Day
Commemoration begins at noon Monday at the Groveton Confederate Cemetery.
Admission to the battlefield park is $3. - Memorial Day in the Town of Shenandoah includes a 9 a.m.
Ceremony at the VFW. Events are scheduled throughout the weekend beginning at 5
p.m. Thursday with food and live music at the Carnival Grounds on Third Street. - Viva Vienna Festival begins at 10
a.m. Saturday and runs through Monday.
Wolf Trap’s “Summer Blast Off” begins at 8 p.m. Sunday with the United States
Marine Band, followed by a fireworks display.
MARYLAND
- Annapolis Memorial Day Parade begins at 10
a.m. Monday. - Bowie Memorial
Day Parade begins at 11 a.m. Saturday. - Chesapeake Beach
Stars and Stripes Festival runs from 10 a.m. Saturday through Monday
afternoon. - Fort McHenry Rangers and Fife and Drum
Corps will offer events at historic cemeteries in Baltimore.- Mount Auburn Cemetery on Sunday at 2 p.m.
- Loudon Park National Cemetery Monday at 9 a.m.
- Fort McHenry Monday at 9:30 a.m.
- Gaithersburg Memorial Day Observance Ceremony
begins at 11 a.m. on Thursday. - Patriotic Laser Light
Shows in Ocean City will be held at 9:30 p.m., 10 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. on
Saturday. - Rockville Hometown
Holidays runs from 2 p.m. Saturday through Monday. - Sharpsburg, Md., parade and wreath laying ceremony
starts at 11 a.m. Saturday. - Upper Marlboro Memorial Day
Ceremony at 10 a.m. Monday.
