10 Things About This Week

Here are some of the things going on in the city this week.

  1. Wet weather week? Looks like it. The National Weather Service is suggesting that Concord should be prepared for rain showers all this week at intermittent times during the day and evening. Temperatures will be in the high 60s and low 70s during the day and mid-40s to 50s during the evening.
  2. Restaurant Week. The second annual Restaurant Week continues through Friday at various locations in Concord and the Granite State.
  3. Party with a purpose. The Woman’s Club of Concord is holding a fundraiser for repairs to the historic Chamberlin House at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
  4. A healthier lifestyle. Dr. Matt Longjohn will share five steps on how you and your family can create a healthier lifestyle for yourselves during a talk at 7 p.m. on Monday at the Concord City Auditorium, sponsored by the Concord Family YMCA.
  5. Not My Life. The Crossroads International Film and Discussion Series continues at Red River Theatres with a showing of the documentary “Not My Life,” which focuses on human trafficking and modern slavery, with a discussion of following the film. The event will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
  6. Darkest Hour. The 2007 film, which addressese the crisis in the children’s mental health care system, will be shown at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday at Red River Theatres. Tickets are $10.
  7. Meet David Mather. Author David Mather will talk about his first novel, “One for the Road,” at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Gibson’s Bookstore.
  8. Full Moon Madness. Margaritas Restaurant will host a fundraiser for the Friends of Forgotten Children from 4 p.m. to close on Thursday. The restaurant will donate 5 percent of lounge sales to the organization.
  9. The Departed. The Thinking for the Future Series continues at the Red River Theatres with a showing of the film “The Departed,” along with a discussion of the Whitey Bulger case with trial lawyers Steve Gordon and Bill Christie and authors Shelley Murphy and Kevin Cullen. Tickets are $40.
  10. Help out the Broken Ground PTO. Print out the give back flyer on this link and bring it to Ruby Tuesday on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday, and 20 percent of your purchase will go to the Broken Ground PTO.
