Samsung Galaxy S4 Active also listed in Bluetooth SIG certification resultscv – Pocket

The waterproof, more rugged version of the Samsung Galaxy S4 has popped up on the Bluetooth Special Interest Group’s (SIG) Bluetooth-certification pages, hinting that the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active’s testing process is complete and launch is imminent.

The Bluetooth SIG is the controlling body of the Bluetooth standard, so if a manufacturer wants to include the wireless tech in any of its devices, it must present them for certification first. Therefore, the appearance of a device on the group’s certification pages is confirmation of its existence.

Unlike the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom however, which also appeared in a Bluetooth SIG listing last week, that an S4 Active was planned was never in doubt. A Samsung executive had already confirmed that the company was to release a beefier, stronger and waterproof version of its latest Android smartphone this year. Most likely in June.

The latest listing doesn’t reveal much other than that the new phone will come with Bluetooth, obviously, and its model number will be GT-i9295, but Dutch site Mobileaks also claims the phone will be released in the week commencing 24 June, and that at least one variant will come in metallic orange.
