So, turns out it’s not just us who enjoy our barrage of Twitter in-jokes.
@MirrorFootball‘s hilarious mix of unexplained player nicknames, klaxons, general snark and breaking news is among among the six finalists in the best use of social media category at the upcoming Association of Online Publishers’ Digital Awards 2013.
The @MirrorFootball Twitter feed now boasts 236,860 followers.
The award reflects the ever-growing importance of social media channels for publishers, with factors taken into consideration included growth in engagement, interaction, innovation and brand development.
Formed in 2002, the UK Association of Online Publishers (AOP) is an industry body representing digital publishing companies that create original, branded, quality content.
AOP champions the interests of media owners from diverse backgrounds including newspaper and magazine publishing, TV and radio broadcasting, and pure online media.
The ceremony takes place in London on June 6 – so don’t expect much sense out of a suited-and-booted @MirrorFootball that night, frankly.
